Media Release | The Pacific International Music Career Development Scholarship has attracted a high calibre of independent artists across Australia and there are still three weeks to go before applications close. One of the bands that have applied is Queensland’s own Hussy Hicks, a duo that has been around since 2006.
Julz Parker from Hussy Hicks said, “Of course, like everyone else that has entered, we really hope we win the scholarship. If we do we are keen to produce another album and video clip. Leesa and I feel that we are pretty much at a stage where we are ready for export so we are hoping that the PIM team will give us some professional direction to get busy touring Europe and the US.”
“It’s great that we have attracted such a high calibre of Australia’s independent artists,” said Karen Andrew-Latter from JMusic Australia, “but we don’t want the less experienced artists to be scared off by this. Although experience is fantastic and goes a long way to helping develop an artist, the main thing that we are looking for in an artist or band is unique talent and that stands out whether the artist is experienced or inexperienced.”
The $50,000 scholarship includes production of an album, a professional photo shoot and video clip, 500 copies of a CD, a website, set up and management for three months of social media accounts, professional written materials, electronic press kit, business plan, marketing consults and media coaching.
