Rob is from Gippsland, Victoria. He is a musician, producer and sound engineer. He also has over 30 years experience in the property development industry, bringing his business acumen and communications skills across making him a great Artists and Repertoire (A & R) person for PIM.
Rob has worked with Luke O’Shea (three times Golden Guitar winner), Kaylee Bell (Toyota Star Maker Winner 2013), Justin Standley (X Factor), Tanya Self (Toyota Star Maker Winner and Golden Guitar Winner) and Dozzi to name a few.
Rob’s current, side-project band – The Bobkatz – is currently recording its sixth album and has achieved significant national Australian airplay, two national number one Country music singles and is charting in the top 10 of Europe’s Country Music Singles Charts.
Rob specialises in working with an artist’s individuality and strengths.
His production credits include Josh Arnold, Nik Phillips, Jill King, Garrison Starr, American Idol Semi-Finalist Siobhan Magnus, Tayla Lynn, Platinum selling artist Heidi Newfield and Multi-Platinum selling artist Nikki Webster.
He achieved acclaim in Australia in the 80s and 90s for his work as a producer and songwriter. During this time he’d worked for Warner/Chappell Music and Arctic/BMG Australia and received ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association) recognition for his work with the Australian pop artist Chaise, producing a string of hit singles that spawned the number one hit – Only Be Me.
Mike relocated to Nashville in 2007. His trademark as a producer is his experimental and hook-heavy approach to creating organic-sounding records.
In Nashville PIM’s last three records with artists’ Coles Whalen, Jill King and Mitzi Dawn cemented their status in the Americana and Alternative Country scene. In 2010, American Idol Siobhan Magnus began a series of writing and recording sessions under the direction of PIM, resulting in her first album Moonbaby, which was released in 2012. PIM is currently writing and producing multi-platinum pop star Nikki Webster’s next project.
PIM has also has composition credits for Film and Television, recently scoring scenes for the up-coming indie thriller Magdalena, directed by Sevier Crespo, which is now in post production and scheduled to be released this year. PIM is currently scoring the new feature film directed by Daniel Baldwin, Wisdom to be released in 2014.
PIM works in all genres of music and has strong networks across Australian and the US. They are able to introduce aussie talent to the Music City and the film centers of New York City and Los Angeles and feed Nashville hits into the Australian music market.
They have developed an approach to music production, development, and songwriting that they call the Organic Music Revolution, which came about because they were frustrated with the sausage machine approach in the industry, which aims to make artists sound like the most recent charting songs. PIM take an alternative approach, harnessing and developing the unique talent of artists in a way that maintains and enhances theirs and their music’s integrity.
